Nineteen out of 23 National
Participants in the International
Science Olympiads Won Medals
In 2012, 23 students represented Turkey in International Olympiads.
Turkish students won a total of 19 medals, distributed as follows: one
gold, three silver, and two bronze medals in Mathematics Olympiads;
three silver and two bronze medals in Physics Olympiads; one gold,
one silver, and one bronze medal in Chemistry Olympiads; and one
silver medal, one bronze medal, and one honourable mention in
Biology Olympiads; and one silver medal in Computer Olympiads.
Students representing Turkey in the International Science Olympiads
are selected from among 10,000 applications. TÜBİTAK doubled the
amount of the scholarship given to the medal-winning students this
year.
