TÜBİTAK Solar Car Race “Formula-G”
and Hydrogen-Powered Car Race
“Hydromobile” were held in İzmit in 2012
The 8th solar car race and the 6th hydrogen-powered car race were held with the participation
of university teams from all over Turkey in 2012.
Science, Industry, and Technology Minister Nihat Ergün also attended the final races.
While 16 teams competed in the first year of the Formula-G race, in 2012 this number was
42. Twelve teams competed in the first year of the hydrogen car races and this number
was 24 in 2012.
The Formula-G and Hydromobile Races were held at the 1950-m İzmit Körfez Race Track.
The event, celebrating vehicles powered by clean and renewable energy sources, such as
solar and hydrogen cells, enjoys greater popularity with each passing year.
