Primary, middle, and high schools, as well as pre-school education, have begun the new school year with the first bell. After the ceremonies held in schools, millions of students have started their lessons. As TÜBİTAK, we will continue to support our students and teachers in this academic year, just as we always have.
Through the TÜBİTAK Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) Scholarships and Support Programs Directorate (BİDEB) and the Directorate of Science and Society (BİTO), we contribute to Türkiye's future by providing scholarships and support.
As TÜBİTAK BİTO, we have established more than 20 science centers, 100 Deneyap Technology Workshops in 81 provinces, Science and Technology, Science for Kids, and Curious Little magazines, the Science Youth Web Portal, our popular science books, and science fairs, among other things. Throughout the year, we support students and teachers with science discussions, and TEKNOFEST competitions, where we bring our scientists together with our students in 81 provinces.
Under the Scholarships and Support for Scientists and Youth, we support our students through TÜBİTAK-2202 International Science Olympiads, TÜBİTAK-2248 Mentorship Support Program, and the 2224-D Participation Support Program for Scientific Education Activities Abroad.
We prepare our students for future challenges and help them develop their competitive spirit through TÜBİTAK 2204-A High School Student Research Projects Competition, TÜBİTAK 2204-B Middle School Student Research Projects Competitions, TÜBİTAK 2204-C High School Student Polar Research Projects Competition held within TEKNOFEST, and TÜBİTAK 2204 D High School Student Climate Change Research Projects Competition.
Support for Teachers by TÜBİTAK
Within the framework of the 2247-C Intern Researcher Program, while supporting our students with GENÇ STAR, we do not forget our teachers who shape the future and guide our youth with the light of knowledge and science. We also provide support to teachers who educate students who have won awards in competitions through the STAR TEACHER program.
It is aimed that teachers participate in scientific research projects while observing scientific ethics, with the aim of supporting the development of teachers' professional knowledge and skills and increasing their knowledge, experience, and expertise in scientific research processes. Support will be provided to teachers who will participate in research projects conducted at TÜBİTAK Centers and Institutes or supported by TÜBİTAK. Those who have served as mentors for students who have won first, second, or third place in the final stage of BİDEB 2204 Middle School and High School Research Projects Competitions in the last 3 years or have served as mentor teachers for students who have been successful in the first stage of the BİDEB 2202 Science Olympiads Program in the last 3 years can benefit from this program.
TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi Enters Its Third Academic Year
TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi (TÜBİTAK Science High School), which admitted students for the first time in the 2021-2022 academic year, was opened with the Education Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
The registrations for the 2023-2024 academic year at TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi were completed with 90 students from 44 different provinces. We would like to thank the 2147 students and valuable parents who chose our school.
TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also met with the students who started the preparatory class on the first day of the academic year. Mandal shared his career journey, from being a TÜBİTAK scholarship recipient to becoming the President of TÜBİTAK.
Mandal explained that they established TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi with the aim of educating future scientists and solving today's and tomorrow's problems for both our country and the world. He emphasized that designing, producing, and developing science and technology by our students and young people is one of the main goals of their institution. For a brighter future and a stronger Türkiye, TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi continues to educate the bright generations with a focus on science and technology. He expressed the special importance of TÜBİTAK Fen Lisesi and the role it plays within the institution.
Mandal also stated that TÜBİTAK will always be by the side of students and teachers, and he shared information about TÜBİTAK Programs, support, and science and technology-based competitions.
At the end of the event, TÜBİTAK President answered the students' questions.
