TEKNOFEST Izmir, the aviation, space and technology festival organised by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and Technology Team Foundation of Türkiye (T3) and with TÜBİTAK as a stakeholder, opened its doors At Çiğli Airport.

“We will write new success stories together in every TEKNOFEST"

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, who made the official opening speech of TEKNOFEST, said, "I am pleased to be in Izmir and to have Izmir host TEKNOFEST." he said. Minister Kacır, Izmir; Stating that it is the symbol city of the national struggle, he said: “Mr. Tahsin fired the first bullet. This first bullet became the symbol of the fire of independence. The liberation of Izmir on the morning of September 9 became the symbol of the rebirth of the Turkish nation, which was thought to be dead. Türkiye is a world state as a playmaker. It breaks new ground in science and technology. The Turkish mark is left on the blue waters and even in space. We are in a period when Anatolia regains its self-confidence. For this reason, in the last 20 years, we have tried to extract the hidden gems in Anatolian lands. We are building Türkiye, the playmaker in the world. Now we cut our own belly. " he said.

Kacır, emphasized that the liberation of Izmir on the morning of September 9 was the sign of the Turkish nation rising from the ashes, which was thought to be a "sick man", and on this occasion, wished God's mercy to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms. Kacır stated that as we step into the second century of the Republic, Türkiye is on the stage of history again and that it is a world state with its playmaker and voice identity. Emphasizing that the legacy of Ali Kuşçu, Fergani, Ulug Bey and Hezarfen has now risen in the hands of Turkish youth, Kacır went one step beyond the many failed attempts of Vecihi Hürkuş, Nuri Demirağ and Şakir Zümre and shed light on the future.

He explained that he came to life again with breakthroughs. Minister Kacır pointed out that the Turkish mark has been left on the land, air, blue waters and even space, and continued his speech as follows: "We are in an age where our nation has torn up the scenarios drawn for itself and Anatolia has regained its self-confidence. In today's Türkiye, there is nothing to lose." We cannot tolerate even a single minute of disappointment. In the last 20 years, we have tried to extract our hidden gems in Anatolian lands. We have established the necessary infrastructure for our young people on the path from idea to product. Today, together, we are building a Türkiye that is a powerhouse in its region and a playmaker in the world. "We are closing the gap with the world states by fitting 100 years of projects into 20 years."

Kacır stated that difficult decisions are made by strong wills and that they continue their "National Technology Move" journey in the "Türkiye Century" with the will, stance and determination demonstrated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Emphasizing that the Turkish star will shine in this century, Kacır continued as follows: "We believe that the Turkish wind will surround the whole world in this age. With the National Technology Move, this wind will turn into a storm. The National Technology Move will create a 'Fully Independent Türkiye' in critical technologies." “TEKNOFEST enthusiasm continues to increase”

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal said, “On the 100th anniversary of the founding of our republic, we are in Izmir, one of the most important cities to talk about for our republic. TEKNOFEST excitement will continue in Izmir, starting from September 27th until October 1st. Izmir welcomed us so warmly and we really started to experience TEKNOFEST with greater enthusiasm.”

Drawing attention to the satellites standing in front of the TÜBİTAK stand, Mandal said, “When we say national technology, you see our satellites. Our İMECE satellite with sub-meter resolution, carried out under the coordination of TÜBİTAK, which we sent into space on April 15, 2023. But where we are more excited is our TÜRKSAT 6A communication satellite. İMECE is our eye in space. This is our ear. We plan to deliver this satellite, which is the infrastructure of the technology where we will receive our images and talk about all communication beyond 5G, in March next year and send it in June. ASELSAN, C TECH under the coordination of TÜBİTAK and we carry it out together with TUSAŞ. For the first time, we have become a country that can build our own communications satellite and we are one of eleven countries in the world. “This is really important.”

Prof. Dr. Mandal said, “We have models of these developed satellite technologies made in our TÜBİTAK stand and then our children take them home. In this way, they learn by touching and say, 'If our engineers and researchers elders did this, we can do better.' They experience excitement and responsibility at the same time. In fact, this is exactly what we want to do at TEKNOFEST.”

Underlining how crowded the TÜBİTAK stand is, Mandal said, “Our youth and children fill the TÜBİTAK stand completely. We are trying to introduce the technologies that TÜBİTAK has developed, but more importantly, will develop, to our students, children and citizens. We make them compete. We teach them with fun. But more importantly, our young people say, 'I am a candidate for what will be done in the future, not what is done today', this is what TEKNOFEST means. Great interest in TÜBİTAK events

TÜBİTAK stand attracted great attention from both young people and adults. Long queues formed in front of events and workshops.

TÜBİTAK BİLGEM exhibited its strong talents and wide capabilities at TEKNOFEST Izmir, where it participated, and provided entertaining moments to the participants. Within the scope of the events held at the TÜBİTAK BİLGEM stand, Metaverse: Adventure Island, realized with virtual reality technology, BİL-BUL Cryptology Competition, where they competed with their mathematics and cryptology knowledge, and YİTAL Experience Zone, Türkiye's first and only semiconductor research laboratory simulation, offered different experiences to the participants.

With these events, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM aimed to increase young people's interest in science, technology and mathematics, while providing unforgettable moments to the participants with educational and entertaining content.

TÜBİTAK BİTO organized 'Did you know these?' and 'Popular Science' quiz competitions on solar observation, wood and organized paper airplane model making workshops. A separate stand was opened to sell popular science books that appeal to all age groups.

Bilim Genç also organized a quiz for visitors via mobile application.

Human Resources Department; It carried out Interview Simulation and Let's Create a Resume Together activities.

TÜBİTAK MAM exhibited Polar Mascots (Whale, Polar Bear, Penguin) at the stand. Application of Different Materials in the Microscope; Interesting Experiments with Liquid Nitrogen and Potassium Chlorate - Sugar Reaction; Noise Barrier; Hydrogen Value Chain Demonstration; Carbon Footprint Measurement; Carbon Dioxide Sources and Sinks activities were carried out. Awareness was raised among the participants regarding the fight against climate change.

TÜBİTAK RUTE exhibited the model of Eskişehir 5000, Türkiye's first local and national Main Line Locomotive, and the original V8 1200 horsepower diesel locomotive engine model, which is the first product of the Özgün Engine Family. Digital Train Race and Wooden Train Model Making events were organized.

TÜBİTAK SAGE exhibited the KUZGUN family and SOM rockets and organized Rocket Model Workshop and VR Virtual Reality Experience events.

TUG; carried out Astro Quiz Competition and TUG Telescopes Control Simulator with Pardus events. The participant himself directed the telescope to the entered coordinates with a software running on the PARDUS operating system, and the picture of the sky/space/celestial objects in the entered coordinates sent as a souvenir as a souvenir, and will either be e-mailed or hand-delivered as an A5 quality print, upon request.

Sound level meter, body resistance meter, prepared by TÜBİTAK UME with a popular science concept to familiarize participants with measurement. and the "measure yourself" activity was carried out with a hand strength meter.

TÜBİTAK UZAY; İMECE and TÜRKSAT 6A Satellite models were exhibited. Space Traveler Game and Moon Adventure Game were organized with TÜRKSAT 6A and İMECE Model Workshop.

Many workshop activities and science shows were held during TEKNOFEST by TÜBİTAK Supported Science Centers (Konya, Kocaeli, Kayseri, Bursa, Üsküdar, Elazığ, Antalya and Yozgat Science Centers) and Deneyap Technology Workshop Instructors.

Our Firsts at TEKNOFEST İzmir

Unlike Istanbul and Ankara, TÜBİTAK BİGG stand was established in TEKNOFEST Izmir, and 1812 - Investment Based Entrepreneurship Support Program (BiGG), in which TÜBİTAK provides great support to entrepreneurs to realize their business ideas, is being introduced. It covers many issues related to entrepreneurship, especially BIGG support in the stand; We invest in participants to bring their business ideas to life and answer their questions.

In addition, TÜBİTAK Science High School opened a stand in İzmir for the first time. At the stand where TÜBİTAK Science High School is introduced in a versatile way, all questions of parents and students were answered by experts and internship programs were promoted.

Bilim Genç also prepared a special souvenir photo corner to make the memories of those who visited TEKNOFEST İzmir unforgettable. Especially children who visited the stand formed long queues to take photos in this souvenir corner.
