1001-UDAP National Earthquake Research Programme is Open for Applications

-A +A

Considering the geographical and geological features and climate factors, there are disaster hazards in our country such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, rockfalls, avalanches, fires and meteorological disasters.

TÜBİTAK opened the Earthquake Research Call in 2021 to support interdisciplinary and/or multidisciplinary research projects covering pre-earthquake, earthquake and post-earthquake periods that will contribute to the understanding of the risks and effects of earthquakes by making maximum use of science and technology-based methods and studies in urbanization strategies, settlement decisions, construction models, architectural designs and planning in our country.

On the other hand, AFAD’s Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plans (İRAP) have been published, and within the framework of the actions included in the "National Earthquake Strategy and Action Plan (UDSEP-2023)”, AFAD started the National Earthquake Research Program (UDAP) (2012-2023), determining the the projects from universities and public institutions as target.

There is a need for this cooperation, which was founded among all disciplines to reduce the destructive effects of the earthquake, to reveal and direct the components of risk reduction strategies of earthquake disasters and to achieve results that will have an impact on the formation of social earthquake disaster awareness.

In this respect, it was planned to organize a joint call on earthquake between TÜBİTAK and AFAD with a co-financing model, and within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between the two Institutions, a special call titled "1001-UDAP National Earthquake Research Program" was opened.

Support will be given to project proposals from the following Priority R&D and Innovation Topics within the scope of the call.

  1. Geodynamic Research and Socio-Economic, Social and Environmental Widespread Impacts of the Earthquake
  2. Digital Technologies and Devices for Earthquake
  3. Construction Models aimed for Earthquake and Waste Management
  4. Scenario, Forecast and Analysis Studies for Earthquake Management

The submisson deadline for online application is April 1, 2024 at 23.59, and the deadline for electronic signature procedures for proposals whose online applications have been completed is April 4, 2024 at 23.59. Please click here to get detailed information about the call.
