Penetrator Bomb (NEB)
The Penetrator Bomb (Turkish abb. NEB), developed by TÜBİTAK, is the
world’s first and only bomb in service which contains Multiple Warhead
System (MWS) technology. NEB has similar external geometry, guidance unit
interfaces, mass, center of mass and inertia properties with MK-84 (200 lb)
general purpose bomb.
NEB is the first penetrator bomb developed in Turkey and its capabilities
are beyond those of other competing penetrator bombs. The NEB can be
used against buried and surface targets and it is compatible with the High
Precision Guidance Kit (Turkish abb. HGK) and GBU-10E/B laser guidance
kit.
With implementation of the MWS technology, NEB is capable of penetrating
targets even at low impact velocities and impact angles. Since it has
a potential to be dropped by all aircrafts that can carry MK-84 (200 lb)
general purpose bomb and potential to be used with all guidance kits
compatible with MK-84 (200 lb) general purpose bomb, NEB has great
market potential.
Physical Characteristics (NEB)
• Bomb Length: 8.53 ft (2.6 m)
• Bomb Maximum Diameter: 1.5 ft (457 mm)
• Bomb Weight: 2000 lb (870 kg)
Operational Characteristics
• High penetration performance even at low impact velocities and impact
angles.
• Potential to be used with all guidance kits which are compatible with
MK-84 (2000 lb.) general purpose bomb.
• Potential to be dropped by all aircrafts which can carry MK-84 (2000 lb.)
general purpose bomb.
• High fragmentation effect against secondary surface targets with pre-
formed fragments utilized in Augmenting Charge (AC) design.
• Programmable fuze delay times.
• Usability against various target types.
• Low collateral damage.
