Science Olympiads

National Primary Science Olympiads

Purpose:
to encourage the primary school 6th, 7th and 8th grade students and to support their progress by creating special education opportunities at early ages in accordance with their interests and abilities

Requirements:
Students attending the 6th, 7th and 8th classes of the Primary Schools are directly admissible. 10 students from each school at most can be nominated by the administrations of schools.

Application Period: March (sole application)

Awards:

  1. Medals and Certificates
  2. Successful students are invited to Summer Courses.
  3. Students determined according to their achievement at the second stage exams and Summer Courses are qualified to attend the International Olympiads Winter Courses.

 

National Science Olympiads

Purpose:
to encourage primary school 8th grade students and secondary school students to perform a research in the fields of Natural Sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer sciences) and direct their research by creating special education opportunities in accordance with their interests and abilities

Requirements:

  1. Students attending 8th classes of the Primary Schools and Secondary School 1st and 2nd grade students are directly admissible. Students participating in the Olympiads are determined by the administration of the schools. Individual applications are not accepted.
  2. For Secondary School’s 1st and 2nd grade students, each category is open to only 15 students; for Primary School 8th grade students each category is open for only 5 students.

Application Period: March (sole application)

Awards:

  1. Medals and Certificates
  2. Successful students are invited to Summer Courses.
  3. Students determined according to their achievement at the second stage exams and Summer Courses are qualified to attend the International Olympiads Winter Courses.
  4. Additional points to the National University Examination for medalists for the first time of their entering the exam
  5. Medalists placed in the fields of Natural Sciences at the Universities are directly fellow of the National Undergraduate Scholarship Program.

 

International Science Olympiads

Purpose:
to encourage the secondary school students to perform  research in the fields of Natural Sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer sciences), to direct their research by creating special education opportunities in accordance with their interests and abilities and to select students to represent Turkey in international contests, and prepare them for these contests.

Requirements:
Successful students in the National Science Olympiads have the opportunity to be chosen to participate in the International Science Olympiads based on their performance in Summer and Winter Courses.

Application Period: There is no application period.

Awards:

  1. Medals and Certificates
  2. Students in the Olympiad Teams are awarded extra points in the National University Examination according to their placing in the International Olympiads.
  3. Students winning gold, silver and bronze medals can claim a place in the State Universities without taking the National University Examination.
