The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), is the main public body funding R&D&I in public and private sector in Turkey.
Since 2006 TUBITAK, is involved in Europan Rare Diseases Research via several international programmes including the European Research Area on Rare Diseases (http://www.erare.eu/) and the successor of E-Rare : The European Joint Programme on Rare Diseases (EJP RD - (http://www.ejprarediseases.org/),
To support the Turkish partners in the funded projects of the E-Rare calls, the national funding spent by TUBITAK is 6,5 M TL.
TUBITAK committed the EJP RD 2020 Call ~1,5 M Euro which is going to be used to support the research partners in the funded projects from Turkey.
In order to share information about the EJP RD Programme and the upcoming call, TUBITAK and Sabancı University are organizing a Rare Diseases Research Info Day and International Networking Event on 7 November 2019, in Istanbul, at Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) (https://ejp-on-rare-diseases.b2match.io/).
The EJP RD Joint Transnational Call JTC2020 will be launched officialy in December (http://www.ejprarediseases.org/index.php/funding-schemes/general-informa...).
Objectives of the meeting are:
- introducing the EJP-RD Programme and JTC2020 Call to Turkish research community,
- bringing various stakeholders of rare diseases together and provide them the opportunity for communication and discussing their project ideas,
- building sustainable multi- national and -diciplinary research networks on rare diseases

Who can participate?
All interested parties such as rare diseases patients, patient organizations, clinicians, researchers from public and private sector, researchers from infrastructers, bioinformations, PhD students and post-docs, can participate.

Please also note that 4 of the proposal presentations will be selected among the entirees and the participants will be requested to make a 7 min presentation.
Travel Grants
There are few number of travel grants for the international participants from University or Research Centers who submit their project idea. The grant is enough to cover the economy class flight ticket to İstanbul, and 100 TL of daily the accomodation costs.
