The call "Supporting the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems across land and sea" within the scope of Horizon Europe and Biodiversa+, the European Biodiversity Partnership is opened. It aims to provide science-based guidance and propose new approaches and policies for actions and policies aimed at protecting biodiversity at all levels (genes, species, ecosystems) and ecosystem integrity across land, freshwater and sea. Protecting ecosystem integrity across land, freshwater and sea, proposing new approaches and policy options, and encouraging evaluation of the consequences of conservation actions and policies are also the main objectives of the call.
The BiodivERsA+ call for 2021 was opened for international application on 01/10/2021.
The call is for biodiversity conservation in the natural area and not for restoration of habitats and/or species and ex situ conservation. In addition, the works within the scope of the call include fictions for all ecosystems, including land, fresh water and sea. This call aims to support research projects that address one or more of the three different themes listed below.
• Theme 1: Identifying priority protected areas, establishing effective and resilient ecological networks, developing species-based protection and generating knowledge for the conservation of genetic diversity.
• Theme 2: Projects on the multiple benefits and costs of biodiversity and ecosystem protection.
• Theme 3: Management and governance related projects to ensure effective conservation results.
In the joint project proposals, there is an obligation to comply with the international call application conditions.

In addition to the international project applications to be submitted to the call secretariat, it is obligatory to submit a national project application (https://uidbpbs.tubitak.gov.tr) to TUBITAK by the researchers who will take part in the projects from Turkey. Project proposals to be submitted from our country will be supported within the scope of the Support Program for Increasing the Capacity to Benefit from TÜBİTAK 1071 International Research Funds and Participation in International R&D Collaborations. Since the application is returned without being evaluated in case of non-compliance with the application rules, the national application rules [link to the call document to be opened on the website] should be examined in detail before the application.
