TÜBİTAK’s International Support Programmes Info Day Was Organized

TÜBİTAK’s International Support Programmes and Frontier R&D Laboratory Support Programme, coordinated by TUBITAK and from which foreign researchers can also benefit were presented to representatives of embassies in an Info Day that was organized on 9th of July 2019 in TÜBİTAK.

Among which Dr. Zvonko Mucunski, Ambassador of North Macedonia and Andrii Sybiha, Ambassador of Ukraine are also found, more than 50 trade counsellors and representatives of 35 countries that TÜBİTAK cooperates participated in the TÜBİTAK’s International Support Programmes where Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology and Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK made presentations.  

Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır mentioned in his presentation titled “Turkey’s Movement for Technology Development” about breakthroughs that Turkey made recently in the fields of industry, innovation and R&D. Kacır who underlined that Turkey became one of the world’s biggest economies referred to ground breaking initiatives in Turkish technology ecosystem like Turkey’s open source platforms created collaboratively with global tech giants, technology based early stage entrepreneurship supports or recently established Turkish Space Agency. In his presentation, Kacır stated that over hundred global companies have R&D centres in Turkey and that these companies can establish their R&D labs in Turkey by benefiting from TÜBİTAK’s supports and both Turkish and foreign researchers can work in these labs. He also mentioned about R&D centres’ incentives provided by state. Kacır also underlined that they are expecting from the representatives of embassies that the firms of their countries benefit from the infrastructure and R&D centres’ supports provided by Turkey.

Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, President of TÜBİTAK, in his presentation on TÜBİTAK’s International Support Programmes and Frontier R&D Laboratory Support Programme, generally mentioned about support programmes that foreign researchers can benefit and can apply with Turkish researchers by establishing partnerships.  Prof. Dr. Mandal, gave detailed information about the TÜBİTAK’s Frontier R&D Laboratory Support Programme, which was designed especially to facilitate world’s top performing, leading R&D intense companies, which have ambitions to establish and/or expand their R&D laboratories in/to Turkey. Afterwards, in the session where questions of the invitees were received, our Deputy Minister and our President replied the questions related with the agenda of the info day.
