Clean Future Fund has been introduced and the Clean Technology Start-Ups have been awarded

“The Award Ceremony and the Clean Future Fund Promotion Event” has been held in Ankara with the participation of Dr. Faruk ÖZLÜ, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology.

“The Clean Future Fund Introduction Event”, which aims to provide information on Clean Future Fund designed by United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB, and “The Award Ceremony” within which 9 Clean Technology Start-Ups have been awarded in the framework of Clean Technologies Entrepreneurship Program 2017 (CTEP) and Individual Young Entrepreneurship Program (IYEP), have been held in Ankara with the participation of Dr. Faruk ÖZLÜ, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology.

Dr. Faruk ÖZLÜ has indicated on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology that they are going to increase their support on clean technology enterprises and he underscored the importance of leaving a viable world to the next generations while developing, changing and growing. He has also stated that they have been working on to remediate to the risks against environment in the framework of Global Clean Technologies Innovation Program (GCIP), and emphasized that the future is in the hands of technology, R&D and innovation; but the clean future is based on the clean technology. Therefore, he has pointed out the significance of the rewarding the firms working on clean technology to raise awareness to this matter of fact. Dr. ÖZLÜ indicated that they will do their fair share of work to attain the goal of Turkey as a science center, technology and advanced industry country. In this respect he expressed his pleasure about the role of the GCIP to attain this goal.

TÜBİTAK PRESIDENT PROF. MANDAL: “Global Challenges prompts us to New and More Innovative Initiatives”

Prof. Hasan MANDAL, the President of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), has reminded that the process of Program of Global Clean Technologies, which has been initiated by UNIDO and TÜBİTAK, has been ongoing for 5 years in coordination with many institutions. Prof. MANDAL underlined that the global challenges such as the shortage of natural and water resources, deprivation of energy and the problem of pollution, have prompted us to new and more innovative initiatives and he emphasized the importance of the bringing into action of the new and innovative ideas with the cooperation of related institutions.

By mentioning the ongoing TÜBİTAK’s activities and planned support programs, Prof. MANDAL has notified that they will announce new support programs soon. He also informed that they will be contributing to the enhancement of the quality of the enterprise eco-system by establishing a new enterprise fund.

Süleyman YILMAZ, The Representative of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Director of Center for Regional Cooperation, has indicated that the Program of Global Clean Technologies has grew and developed and the public and private institutions achieved a great success by supporting the Clean Future Fund.

Sinan TANDOĞAN, the Head of Entrepreneurship Support Group of TÜBİTAK, told that they aimed at the development based on a model of production from renewable resources, consumption by transforming and sharing and reuse. He has also expressed his pleasure to meet investors who consider the technology enterprises as serious investment area.

After the speeches, the entrepreneurs working in clean technology have been awarded.
 

More Than 1000 Techno-Enterprise Firm Have Been Established, More Than 100 Clean Technology Entrepreneurs Have Been Supported During the Process of International Clean Technologies Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program

For the last five years, more than 1000 techno-enterprise firm have been established and over 100 clean technology entrepreneurs have been supported by Individual Young Entrepreneurship Program (IYEP) and during the process of International Clean Technologies Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program (ICTEAP). As is known, IYEP, within which the universities and banks act as stakeholders, has been coordinated by TÜBİTAK in the supervision of Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology whereas ICTEAP which is coordinated by UNIDO in cooperation with Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs, Ministry of Development, KOSGEB and TTGV, hosted by TÜBİTAK.

During this process, it has been observed that the introduction of the products and services to the global markets which have been developed by clean technologies requires an extra special attempt. Therefore, it has been aimed at capacity building for the commercialization of the successful clean technology ideas under the above mentioned programs. In the long run, it is believed that this fund will contribute to the sustainable development as well.

Unique in the Thematic Enterpreunership: Global Clean Technologies Innovation Program (GCIP)


UNIDO, aimed at comprehensive and sustainable industrial development, together with Global Environment Fund (GEF) have been coordinating the most extensive and far-reaching entrepreneurship acceleration program for developing the enterprise business ideas in Energy and Environment.

Established to meet the need for global cooperation, Global Clean Technologies Innovation Program (GCIP), supports all the entrepreneurs working in clean technology in the way that they can make sustainable production and accelerate their initiatives.

Under GCIP, which has been coordinated by TÜBİTAK Technology and Innovation Grant Programs Directorate (TEYDEB) with the supervision of Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology since 2014, the innovation in the area of clean technologies has been promoted and the SMEs and Start-Ups working in energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency, waste water management and green buildings have been supported. The national stakeholders of this program are Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs, Ministry of Development, KOSGEB and TTGV.

GCIP also provides key activities such as competition, support programs of education and mentoring and promotion for the entrepreneurs.
