A New TÜBİTAK Support Program for Industry at the amounts of 1,2 Billion Dollars

Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa VARANK, indicated that TÜBİTAK's new support program TEYDEB 2.0 will be beneficial starting from reducing the current deficit and also make significant contribution to the production of high added value products.

Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa VARANK, indicated that there has been a system change in Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Technology and Innovation Funding Programmes Directorate (TEYDEB) through the simplification of 10 different support programs and uniting them under a new program with the title, “TEYDEB 2.0”.

Stating that TÜBİTAK TEYDEB, which supports real sector research, technology development and university-industry business unit mechanisms, technology-based entrepreneurship and early stage initiatives, provided support for a total of approximately 8.3 billion TL for more than 10 thousand projects in 23 years until 2017, VARANK indicated that TEYDEB has reached a 15 billion Turkish Liras of R&D volume.

VARANK also expressed that under the frame of techno-initiative support towards technology based entrepreneurs, an estimated 16 thousand business applications were received and with the amount of 77 million Turkish liras grant provided, 958 entrepreneurs could establish their companies.

TEYDEB Supports are Now Simpler and More Flexible.

Emphasizing that the number of TEYDEB support programs has increased over the years, Varank also expressed that 10 different support programs with separate legislation were united under two titles in order to provide a simpler and more flexible process. Varank stated that the new support program which simplified as; Industry Supports (SADE) and Interface Supports were given the title of “TEYDEB 2.0”. Varank also noted that by 1 August, a budget of 200 million Turkish Liras has been allocated for the projects to be funded under SADE program. In his statement; “We will also launch new programs according to the needs of the industry. We are planning to allocate approximately 1.2 billion Turkish Liras for all TEYDEB calls to be launched until the end of this year. Through TEYDEB 2.0 we are planning to support projects that will decrease the current deficit or develop processes and technologies to produce high value added products. We will support the local development of widely used products and technologies. We believe that this new support program will be beneficial starting from reducing the current deficit and also make significant contribution to the production of high added value products. At this point, I want to specifically address all our industrialists and entrepreneurs; we are ready to give any kinds of support to those with new ideas and those who want to develop new products.”

Minister VARANK also gave information about the first call announcement for TEYDEB 2.0, as applications could be submitted until 31 December 2018. Project applications will be evaluated by visiting referees. As the applications were received, evaluation process will be started not waiting until the end of the call, 31 December 2018.

VARANK also emphasized that TÜBİTAK will design support programs in order to develop Public-academy-industry collaboration and provide mentorship to especially technology based initiatives and SME’s in the basis of business development and innovation.
