12th Secondary School Students Research Projects Final Competition Begins

Secondary School Students Research Project Competition Final Exhibition Opening Ceremony organized by TÜBİTAK Directorate of Science Fellowships and Grant Programmes will be held in Kayseri World Trade Center on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:00. The exhibition will be open between May 7-9, 2018. The award ceremony will take place at Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Has Culture and Art Center on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal. The 12th edition of Secondary School Students Research Projects Final Competition organized by TÜBİTAK Directorate of Science Fellowships and Grant Programmes was held this year in order to encourage secondary school students to study basic, social and applied science fields, to direct their work and to contribute to their scientific development. Applications to the Competition Surpassed the previous year by about 44 percent.

Applications to the Competition aiming at helping students to solve problems that they encountered or heard in social and educational life with authentic ideas increased by nearly 44 percent this year compared to previous year. This year a total of 11,352 projects applied to the competitions in the fields of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Values ​​Education, Coding, History and Turkish. 8224 of a total of 15171 applicants were female while 6947 of them were male students. The preliminary evaluations of the projects in the competition were made by district jurors composed of expert academicians from various universities. According to the preliminary evaluation results, 80 projects from each of the 12 regional city centers and a total of 960 projects were invited to participate in regional exhibitions. The exhibitions which were opened simultaneously in 12 regional city centers including Adana, Ankara, Bursa, Erzurum, Istanbul Asia, Istanbul Europe, Izmir, Kayseri, Konya, Malatya, Samsun and Van on March, 26th, 2018 were visited by students, teachers and citizens who are all interested in science until the evening of March, 28th, 2018. During the exhibition, all projects were evaluated by academic jury; students submitting projects and their advisors receive first, second and third awards were selected. 160 projects receiving the "First Prize" award in the regional competition were invited to the Final Exhibition to be held in Kayseri between 7-11 May 2018.

Between the dates mentioned above, certificate of achievement will be given to students while certificate of participation will be given to their advisors because of their leading role and guidance that they provide for their students during the project preparation process in addition the award payments done to students and their advisors who receive First, Second and Third awards at the final stage of the Competition organized in Kayseri.
