President of TÜBİTAK is nominated by the Science Board from distinguished scientists, recognized in the fields of natural sciences and engineering, and is appointed by the President of Turkey upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The President of TÜBİTAK chairs the Science Board and manages the Council pursuant to the decisions reached by the Science Board. Current president of the TÜBİTAK is Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arif ERGİN.
Vice Presidents are recommended by the President of TÜBİTAK, from scientists with similar qualifications and are appointed by the Prime Minister. Currently, there are three Vice-Presidents: Vice-President Prof. Dr. Mehmet ÇELİK is in charge of technology and innovation funding programmes, coordination unit for research center and institutes, Defence Ind. Research and Dev. Inst. (SAGE), Marmara Research Center (MAM), National Metrology Inst. (UME), National Metrology Inst. (UME); acting Vice-President Prof. Dr. Erol ARCAKLIOĞLU is in charge of academic research support programmes, science fellowships and grant programmes and society support programmes; Vice-President Dr. Orkun HASEKİOĞLU is in charge of Space Tech. Research Inst. (UZAY), National Observatory (TUG), Bursa Test and Analysis Laboratory (BUTAL), Informatics and Information Security Research Center (BİLGEM), Turkish Inst. Of Mngmt. Sciences (TÜSSİDE), Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBİM); and Acting General Secretary Süleyman YAŞAR is in charge of human resources, financial affairs and health services of the Council in addition to the Secretariat Office of TÜBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences).
